New Swimmers
If you are new to the area or have decided to try swimming with RAM there are a few things you need to know. Hopefully this will answer your questions.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
You must be at least 18 years if age.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS
Swimming is a fun sport that can be performed your entire life. Swim practice generally is enjoyable but is demanding. To maximize your chance of enjoying swimming we request you consider a few items.
- If you have any medical condition that might impact your participating in practice, you must provide this information to the coach along with any information needed to ensure your safety.
- Masters swim practice is not a learn to swim program. It is a program that assumes you have a minimum swimming capability. That minimum level is that new members should be capable of swimming at least several passes across the pool non-stop.
Other than physical considerations, we hope you will quickly discover how your desire to swim can aid you in improving fitness and your stroke technique. Possibly learn a new stroke.

Visiting Swimmers
One of the pleasures and exciting features of Masters swimming is the ability to locate and swim with Masters teams across the United States, indeed in the World. As a registered swimmer you are granted that option. RAM upholds that tradition but does request a few things to be considered.
- If you are a visiting USMS registered swimmer from out of town that swims for other US Masters Swim teams, you must do the following.
- Please bring a copy of your current registration card.
- You will be asked to pay the standard drop in fee of $20 per swim. You can pay that here: https://www.clubassistant.com/club/cl.cfm?c=1340.
ARRIVAL AT THE POOL
When you arrive at the pool, please try to arrive at least 15 minutes before THE START OF practice. This will give you a chance to perform a few necessary tasks before practice.
- On arrival, stop at the pool reception desk, ask for the RAM sign-in book and sign in at the end of the membership listing and mark with an "x" on each date you swim.
- Take time to talk to the coach. This is your opportunity to let the coach know of any medical condition you may have that may affect you while in practice. In addition, this is the time when the coach can assess what lane in which you should swim. Remember that the beginning of practice is a very busy time for the coach so please be patient.
